Something Christmas!

on Tue, 10/28/2014 - 08:42
The sounds and spirit of the season come alive with the 2014 ARCS production "Something Christmas". The ARCS family of choirs proudly presents this celebration of the holiday season in song with Up2Christmas and Up2Something performing.

Something Christmas has become a family favorite and this year has expanded to three performances: Sunday, December 7 at 3:30PM and 7:00PM and Monday, December 8 at 7:00PM.  Tickets are now on sale with a portion of proceeds supporting Music Therapy at Carewest through the Calgary Health Trust.  All performances take place at Riverpark Church, located at 3818 - 14A Street SW in Calgary.

Since 2003, the ARCS family of choirs has been dedicated to awakening, nurturing and sharing the magic of voices in harmony.  In its 13 years, ARCS has grown to include four choirs and over 200 singers.  2014 marks the 10th Anniversary of Something Christmas.

Join the choirs of ARCS and host Steve Olson for an exhilirating holiday concert that will set your spirit soaring!

The 2014-15 Edition of the Singer Handbook is Here!

on Mon, 10/20/2014 - 22:30
Better late than never!  For all those who are new to ARCS and all our returning singers, the 2014-15 Edition of the ARCS Singer Handbook is full of tips, guidelines and helpful information to help make your choir experience even better.  Each year we make improvements to our handbook based on feedback from you.  And there are some amazing photos from our 2014 Season Finale, "British Invasion" to help make the read interesting and entertaining.

Since ARCS strives to be ecofriendly, we don't produce hard copies of this document as we'd prefer you to read it online.  If, however, you do wish to print a copy, you're welcome to do so and it's formatted to fit on standard letter size paper.  We're still figuring out how to make this available as an iBook which allows for some additional content, like audio and video.  Perhaps next year!

As we approach the Christmas season and performances, we strongly encourage that you spend a few minutes perusing the handbook and familiarizing yourself with the content.  Everything from our organizational values to the philosophy on which we base our costuming is included.  It's a real page-turner!
We recently learned that our Singer Handbook has been used by other organizations as an example to follow - what a great compliment!  We hope that you, our members, appreciate the content as well and help us make ARCS the best it can be by putting it to use.

Welcome!

on Tue, 09/16/2014 - 11:05
The arrival of another new season of ARCS is upon us and we continue to flourish.  A sincere welcome to all our new and returning singers!  You're part of a family of choirs that is devoted to awakening, nurturing and sharing the magic of voices in harmony.  Our theme for the season is "Dance to the Music" and the reception to the repertoire has been very positive.  Under the direction of Brian, Michelle and Brent, we're committed to creating a positive environment, learning new things, and sharing laughter and community with you.

ARCS is fortunate to have many dedicated people working on your behalf.  From our Board of Directors to the scores of volunteers who make our activities possible, we are reliant on an army of committed individuals who share their time and talents.  Our exceptional Admin Team lead by Robyn Jackson continues to provide strong support to our operations.  And we're blessed with a very talented Artistic Team who strive for excellence and are loved by our members.  We thrive as an organization because of all these essential ingredients.

If you're new to ARCS, we want to be sure you feel informed, welcomed and connected.  There are many resources to help ensure a positive introduction.  Do check out this website for updates, schedules, rehearsal plans, demo recordings and notices of upcoming events.  The Singer Handbook is in revision and will be available soon but in the meantime, please review the 2013-14 version for important information regarding your choir membership.
