What a night! The ARCS Family of Choirs hosted an evening that will not soon be forgotten on Saturday, April 20th at Knox United Church. She's Up2Something and Up2Something played host to seven guest choirs -- from barbershop to yodlers -- all sewn together by the remarkably gifted Heebee-jeebees who served as emcees and entertainers extraordinaire.
A sold-out house was treated to an onslaught of talent that was filled with amazing music, incredible variety and exceptional quality. Our thanks to our guest choirs -- the Westwinds Choral Ensemble, Calgary Men's Chorus, Bow Valley Chorus, Big Rock Singers, Yodler Club Heimattreu, Second Chants, and the Stampede City Chorus -- for joining us in the 5th edition of the Biennial Calgary Sings! event. Our fine city enjoys a wealth of opportunity for adults to sing in harmony!
The culmination of the evening was a spine-tingling performance by the Mass Choir of 375 voices of Joseph Martin's "The Awakening". For anyone who was there - singing this remarkable piece, or listening in the audience -- this was breathtaking. The proclamation "Let Music Live!" was a fitting conclusion to an evening that will live on in our memories for a very long time.
A portion of proceeds from the 2013 Calgary Sings! event will be donated to the Calgary Health Trust in support of the Music Therapy Program at Carewest facilities. To all who made Calgary Sings! possible, our deepest thanks and appreciation for making music with us, for allowing us the opportunity to sing, and to supporting us in our passion.
Until 2015!
