Something Christmas!

on Mon, 12/15/2014 - 13:16
The ARCS Family of Choirs proudly presented three performances of "Something Christmas" on December 7 and 8 and Riverpark Church.  Along with emcee and storyteller Steve Olson, Up2Christmas and Up2Something delighted audiences with performances of seasonal favorites, including "Jingle Bells", "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming", "Huron Carol" and "We Need a Little Christmas".  The combined choir of 150 voices served up spine-tingling renditions of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "O Holy Night".  The audience joined in on a special "Holiday Sing-Along" that included "Deck the Hall" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".  A grand time was had by all!
2014 marked the 10th Anniversary of "Up2Christmas" - a seasonal chorus that began in 2005 under the direction of Brian Bowman.  Over time, it has become a women's chorus.  Under the direction of Michelle Kotelko, it has flourished and grown to its present size of approximately 75 enthusiastic and talented women.  Up2Something - a mixed chorus of some 85 men and women -- has lent there voices to the annual Christmas production and 2014 was no exception.  Video recordings of the exceptional performances of these two choirs is available on YouTube along with a selection of photos from the production, available by clicking here.
ARCS is now accepting new singers to two of its programs: She's Up2Something and Something Lite.  More information on these excellent singing opportunities is available by clicking on the "Join Us" tab.

The 2014-15 Edition of the Singer Handbook is Here!

on Mon, 10/20/2014 - 22:30
Better late than never!  For all those who are new to ARCS and all our returning singers, the 2014-15 Edition of the ARCS Singer Handbook is full of tips, guidelines and helpful information to help make your choir experience even better.  Each year we make improvements to our handbook based on feedback from you.  And there are some amazing photos from our 2014 Season Finale, "British Invasion" to help make the read interesting and entertaining.
Since ARCS strives to be ecofriendly, we don't produce hard copies of this document as we'd prefer you to read it online.  If, however, you do wish to print a copy, you're welcome to do so and it's formatted to fit on standard letter size paper.  We're still figuring out how to make this available as an iBook which allows for some additional content, like audio and video.  Perhaps next year!
As we approach the Christmas season and performances, we strongly encourage that you spend a few minutes perusing the handbook and familiarizing yourself with the content.  Everything from our organizational values to the philosophy on which we base our costuming is included.  It's a real page-turner!
We recently learned that our Singer Handbook has been used by other organizations as an example to follow - what a great compliment!  We hope that you, our members, appreciate the content as well and help us make ARCS the best it can be by putting it to use.
